Data we do not collect

TempBox does not collect, store, or process any personal tracking data on our end.

The Chrome Extension uses background alarms strictly to poll for new messages to update the extension icon badge. It does not track your browsing history or perform any other background activity.

What stays in your browser

Your mailbox session — consisting only of your temporary email address, account ID, and bearer token — is stored securely in memory. On the website, this uses your browser's sessionStorage (deleted when you close the tab). In the Chrome Extension, this uses chrome.storage.session (deleted when your browser restarts or the extension is reloaded).

How your requests are handled

TempBox communicates securely with our email service. Your network requests are used only to retrieve and display your messages. IP addresses and connection metadata are not permanently logged by us.

Anonymity limitations

TempBox does not claim to provide complete anonymity, untraceability, or guaranteed privacy. Email metadata (sender, subject, timestamps) and content are temporarily processed by the backend. Do not use TempBox for sensitive communications requiring legal or operational anonymity.

Email content security

Incoming email HTML is sanitized using DOMPurify before display. Scripts, event handlers, and executable content are removed. However, we cannot guarantee that all sanitization perfectly handles every attack vector. Treat incoming email content from unknown senders with caution.
